Congratulation to the A Team for winning DCLGA Division 1 and the Anderson Shield for the third consecutive year.
The inaugural Margaret Jones Memorial Match against Ryton GC Ladies was held on Sunday 31st August 2008. Teams of 12 players from both clubs took part with the match ending in a tie.
Despite the heavy rain, an enjoyable and friendly atmosphere lasted in all matches with afternoon tea being provided on the return to the clubhouse. Unfortunately, due to the treacherous conditions, Mrs Pauline Charlton fell and broke her ankle on the 10 green - we wish her a speedy recovery.
The trophy was presented by Mrs Christine Herriot, Margaret's God-daughter to the Lady Captain of Ryton with the trophy being held for 6 month by each club.

The new format for the Championship Day attracted 16 players. There were 7 entries for the Championship of which two intended just to enter for the Best Net prize. There were 10 entries for the Bronze Cup and 6 for the Tyro Cup. We were extremely lucky with the weather as the previous and following day the course was closed for flooding. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their game and some good scores were returned. The Championship players were supported on their second round by several spectators and everyone enjoyed a celebratory glass of “bubbly” at the presentation of trophies at the end of play. The eventual winner of the Championship was Pat McIntosh, for the third year running. The winner of the Bronze Cup, Linda Murray, has now reduced her handicap to silver. Louise Morris won the Tyro Cup for the second year running.
Lady Captain's Day - a very enjoyable day was had despite the gale force wind! The ladies would like to thank the Captain for her lovely prizes and the splendid buffet. The bunny girls at the 12th provided a laugh and a great drinks service. We hope Margaret will have lasting memories of her special day.
